Geological Oceanographic Measurements

Contents

Background

This very brief description is not intended to provide fundamental instruction in geological oceanography; as with all OceanTeacher materials, we leave basic marine education to the colleges and universities. This article merely provides a conceptual framework and terminology for data managers who may have a slightly different specific background, but who have marine data responsibilities.

Geophysical Surveys

Geological Samples

Geo-Hazards

Soils and Landcover

Beaches and Shores

[stick to the soil, sediment, sand, mud, rock subjects; this is not a general heading on coastal everything]

Special Role of Mapping

[just a few words; GIS is covered elsewhere]

Additional Resources

[links; stick to stable, permanent, major monographs and websites; just the really main sites and resources; use well-formed wiki reference format, and you can add gloss notes to explain them after the brackets close
