• Digital Chart of the World - Nation-by-nation download of DCS vector layers provided online by Penn State University from the DCW
• ETOPO1 Global Relief Model - 1 arc-minute global relief model of Earth's surface that integrates land topography and ocean bathymetry...available in "Ice Surface" (top of Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets) and "Bedrock" (base of the ice sheets) versions
• GEODAS Grid Translator - Extract subsets (in several formats) from ETOPO1, ETOPO2v2 or US coastal regions
• Global Land Cover Facility Data and Products - Includes satellite imager, products derived from imagery, and the World Database on Protected Areas
• Global Land One-km Base Elevation (GLOBE) Project - A 30-arc-second (1-km) gridded, quality-controlled global Digital Elevation Model (DEM)

• SRTM-Plus - Global relief dataset at 30-second resolution. Includes SRTM 30-sec data, Smith & Sandwell 1-minute bathymetry (resampled), and other high-resolution data, where available.
• VMap0 - Data download (VPF format) from Mapability.com. Includes major road and rail networks, hydrologic drainage systems, utility networks (cross-country pipelines and communication lines), major airports, elevation contours, coastlines, international boundaries and populated places, at 1:1,000,000.Complete globe in 4 archives.
• VMap1 - Data download (VPF format) from Mapability.com. Same themes as VMap0, but nominal resolution of 1:250,000 or better. Still incomplete; questions remain about whether the entire dataset will ever be released. NOTE: the page opens initially at VMap0; click on HOME>INFORMATION at the top of the page to reach VMap1
