GeoNetwork opensource is a standards based, Free and Open Source catalog application to manage spatially referenced resources through the web. It provides powerful metadata editing and search functions as well as an embedded interactive web map viewer. This website contains information related to the use of the software.

• GeoNetwork requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Before running the GeoNetwork installer, make sure that the Java Runtime Environment version 1.5.0 is set up on your computer. To check the current version of JRE select Control Panel from the Start Menu. In Classic View, select Java, then select the About button. The version number will be listed.
  
• Download the current stable version from the GeoNetwork opensource Community website [1], then run it
  
• Accept the license terms, and use all defaults during installation
  
• Make sure that Jave 1.5 or higher is already installed

• Install GhostScript first (the actual read/write utility)
• Then install GhostView (user interface)

Graphics editor with plug-in support for animations

• Obtain and install the main program and the plugins (for maximum file format compatibility)

• Create program folder C:/Program Files/KompoZer
• When you click on the "download" link at the KompoZer website, it will actually open the zip file in WinZip (or your default unzipping program)
• Unzip all the files to the KompoZer folder (preserving folder names in the process)
• Create a shortcut to the file kompozer.exe

• Create program folder C:/Program Files/PFE
  
• Unzip the installation file contents to the PFE folder
  
• Create a shortcut to the file pfe32.exe

• Select SOFTWARE on the ODV homepage
  
• Register to receive the program.  You will enter into the software download area of the website.
  
• In the SOFTWARE folder, download the latest version for your computer (but not BETA) to your desktop
• In the OPTIONAL PACKAGES folder, download odvmpOP_coastGlobHR_w32.zip (a high-resolution global coastline) and odvmpOP_ETOPO2_12m_w32.zip (a high-resolution global gridded bathymetry) to your desktop
  
• In the same order you downloaded the files, install them.  To do this, open the zipfile in WinZip and click on the SETUP.EXE file and accept all the defaults. 
• If you are asked if you want to overwrite any files during these installations, say YES.  This is because the same generic filenames are used within the 3 different installations.
