Background
Because the Digital Library is very large, direct browsing of the materials (while possible) is difficult and time-consuming. An alternate approach to finding materials of interest is offered through OceanTeacher topical Courses. Developed to address specific topics, the Courses are presented as annotated outlines that "point" into the Digital Library. The Courses include instructions to students, as they are intended for use in IODE training workshops.
OceanTeacher Courses
- The Courses are currently provided on the Ocean Teacher Classroom website at http://classroom.oceanteacher.org/ which is based on the popular Moodle course management system.
- All training courses are freely available available for visitors at that site, but registration or login as a guest is required for some courses.
OceanTeacher Roadmap Exercises for Marine Data Management
The sequential list of data management exercises used in many of the courses, leading students from the initial selection of an Area of Interest, through the development of a national marine data collection (with related analysis and quality control work) is no longer included in the OceanTeacher Digital Library. They are all contained in the single course Marine Data Management "Roadmap" Exercises in Moodle.
